Northern Publishers' Fair at Manchester Literature Festival: Performance Edition!

Saturday, October 5th, 10.30am-3:30pm 

Manchester Central Library

Join readers and writers alike at this free event celebrating independent publishing. Peruse books from 12 publishers across genres including literary fiction, genre fiction, middle-grade and children's, poetry and memoir.

Performances:

1.  11.30-11.45 Bluemoose - Kevin Boniface, author of Sports and Social (Bluemoose Books, 2023), Round About Town (Uniformbooks, 2018) and Lost in the Post (Old Street Publishing, 2008).

2.  12.00-12.15 Commonword - Tawseef Khan's debut non-fiction book Muslim, Actually was published by Atlantic in 2021 and his debut novel Determination was published by Footnote Press in June 2024. 

3.  12.30-12.45 Fly on the Wall Press - Laura Fish is an award-winning writer of Caribbean heritage. Her third novel, Lying Perfectly Still, was S I Leeds Reader’s Choice winner 2022, and came third in the S I Leeds Literary Prize 2022. Her second novel, Strange Music (Penguin) was Orange Prize listed 2009.

4.  1.00 - 1.15 Carcanet - John Gallas is a New-Zealand born poet, now living in Leicestershire. He has published 31 books of poetry. His latest collection 'Billy 'Nibs' Buckshot: The Complete Works' will be his 14th book with Carcanet. 

5.  2.00 -2.15 Comma - Brontë Schiltz is a writer of short stories and a Big Issue journalist. She is a freelance contributor to Horrified Magazine.

6.  2.30-2.45 UCLAN - Zoë Richards is a Women's Fiction Writer and the author of 'Garden of Her Heart'. She runs podcast 'Write Damn It!'

7.  3.00 - 3.15 Salt - Nicholas Royle is the author of a short story collection, two novellas and six novels. A new novel, First Novel, will be published in 2013 by Jonathan Cape. He is a senior creative writing lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. He also runs Nightjar Press.

Publishers will be on hand to share their catalogues and literature enthusiasts can network informally.
