Think like a journalist to market your work, with Alice Fowler
It's an exciting moment when you hear you’re being published – but where do you go from there? Focusing on indie presses, Alice Fowler will show how to embrace the need to publicise your book. With many years’ experience at local and national newspapers, Alice will show how thinking like a journalist can help you promote your work, create opportunities, harness your writing skills and – most importantly - enjoy every minute of the ride.
Suitable for writers of short fiction, poetry, novels and non-fiction.
About the Author
Alice Fowler’s debut collection of short stories, The Truth Has Arms and Legs, was published by Fly On the Wall Press in July 2023 and was a best-selling title for that year. Alice is drawn to writing about outsiders: people who, for a wide variety of reasons, feel at the edges of society. Landscape and the natural world are also powerful sources of inspiration. She enjoys how, in the short story form, complex threads can be unpicked and rewoven, within a relatively small word count.
Alice has a degree in Human Sciences from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She worked as a journalist until 2006, writing features and interviews. Her short stories have won and been shortlisted in prizes and printed in anthologies.
She is passionate about environmental issues, loves theatre, walking and playing tennis, and finds most writerly conundrums can be solved while out walking with her rescue lurcher dog.
