Meet your speaker: Laura Otal, Senior Rights Manager at Canongate Books
Laura Otal currently works as Senior Rights Manager within the Rights & Contracts Department at Canongate Books. The list of authors she represents worldwide ranges from Matt Haig, Michel Faber, and Ruth Ozeki to Amy Liptrot, Rick Rubin, and Nan Shepherd.
Before that, she was Translation Rights Agent at two literary agencies in London, firstly at Peters, Fraser & Dunlop, and then at Aitken Alexander Associates.
However, her passion for reading first turned into her job when she became a bookseller for Blackwell’s in Newcastle!
Whether you're exploring career options, considering a pivot into rights, or simply curious about this crucial side of publishing, Laura's insights will be invaluable.
